Palm/Passion Sunday

March 28

Hymn verse: TRINITY

I bind unto myself the name,
the strong name of the Trinity
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One and One in Three,
of whom all nature has creation,
eternal Father, Spirit, Word.
Praise to the Lord of my salvation;
salvation is of Christ the Lord!

Scripture: Isaiah 53:4-6

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

PRACTICES

PRAY: the Examen

Return to the examen you wrote at the beginning of Lent. Reread your prayers for this forty-day journey, and reflect on how and whether they’ve been answered in this holy season. Make room for both consolation and desolation—the places where you’ve felt God’s support and help, and the places where you fell short. Give thanks for the first; ask forgiveness for the second. Pray for what you need to keep Holy Week sacred.

FAST: from a grudge

While honoring the distance you may hold from toxic or abusive relationships, choose to release the bitterness you may feel around the most challenging people in your life. Pray for them, and commend them to the love of Christ, who loves all even when we cannot.

GIVE: love

Tell someone you love the…especially if you don’t say it often enough.
