Even when it seems like we finally get all the answers, we find that we’re still left with questions! After Jesus unfolds the Law and the Prophets to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, after they recognize him in the breaking of the bread, after he disappears, they find themselves asking, “Did not our hearts burn within us?”

“There is really only one question on Easter morning, asked by two or three questioners.

“There is only one question in the readings for Holy Saturday, and it is not spoken aloud: Joseph of Arimathea’s request to take Jesus’ body and prepare it for burial (John 19:38).
